Do you like this?

Blackbird

Blackbird

I made it.  I do not like it.  It was much nicer in my head than it turned out to be in real life (most things are).  Those black border punched strips are too long or something.  Did you watch the Make a Card Monday video on kwernerdesign blog this week?  I tried that effect on my background too.  It didn’t turn out as cute.  I needed some green in there for the color challenge, so I spritzed it with some color wash first.  First time I’ve used that product, I liked it.  Then I used a paint dabber to make the “polka dots.”  They looked like eye balls when I first started.  I used two beautiful Unity stamps and then matted it on orange card stock.  I used some paper glaze to give the bird a glossy finish.  Want a closer look?

Sorry for the weird angle.

A card for HHH

August.28.2009

Good morning!  I’m finally taking part in HHH.  This is so exciting.  Some of the gals in the forum were talking about using a tree stamp this week.  I said, “I’m in!”  I LOVE trees!  Trees and birds, but you all know that.  So, here is the card I created:

A Tree for HHH

A Tree for HHH

I used the Burberry Tree stamp.  This is the cutest little tree stamp every!  It is so versatile.  I’ve had those felt leaf stickers from Target FOREVER and I thought they’d look adorable on that little tree.  This is one of my favorite cards I’ve ever made.  I just love the way it turned out.

Plenty of Buttons

Plenty of Buttons

I used plenty of buttons.  I started out with only 3 and I thought this needs more!  I love buttons!

I usually keep it simple with my cards, but I really like the look of ones that have a lot of detail.  So, I tried to do that with this one.   That little leaf brad is from the dollar bins at Target too!  You can find some great stuff there.  Don’t you just love that green frame.  It’s from the Chloe’s Closet line by Making Memories.  They were on clearance at Michaels.  I wish I had bought more of them.

Thanks for looking!

I have off every other Monday.  This is not one of them.  It stinks only having one day off every other week.  But hey, at least I have a job.

I’m here to share with you another Get Sketchy sketch challenge.  This is sketch #2.  Here is the sketch (the bonus this week was to use punches):

Someone Special Card

Someone Special Card

I finally got my Unity stamps to play with.  The circle one is from the Stylin’ Stars set.  Then I embossed the circle with one of  the Stitched Circles embossing folders with my Cuttlebug.  (I had fun playing with all my new toys this weekend!)  I used a scalloped border by Fiskars to punch those strips.  The brad, sticker and papers are from K&Co.

Here are two more cards for you to enjoy:

Flower Card

Flower Card

This one is almost all K&Co.  With the exception of the glossy paper by Ranger, which I used some alcohol ink to color.

A Muse Trees Card

A Muse Trees Card

On this card the background was stamped with a Fancy Pants stamp and then embossed with white, then I used Tim Holtz distress inks to add the purple color.  The tree stamp is by A Muse.  I think I did a pretty decent job coloring with my Martha Stewart watercolor markers.

I hope you enjoyed this cards!

Here’s what I won!

August.18.2009

(Note:  Please excuse my messy living room and lack of fashion sense.  Thank you.)

Hi everyone!  Do you remember when I promised I would show you the stuff I won from the Paper Crafts blog?  Well I finally had some time over the weekend to make a video.  It’s going to be in 3 parts.  It was supposed to be in 2 parts but I ran out of space on my memory card and I got cut off.  So here you go:

Thinking of You

August.13.2009

I’m so sad that the Thinking Inking class over at Two Peas is almost over.  That class was so inspiring.  I loved that card Jennifer made with the transparent window so much that I made one of my own.

Thinking of You

Thinking of You

I had some old Fiskars embossing plates (you know, the ones you emboss by hand) that I have hardly used (I need a Cuttlebug).  I used the leaves one for this card.  The transparent strip is actually the packaging that was wrapped around a new album I bought.  I just cut it down to size.  I used Lettuce, Stream and Silver alcohol inks.  The chipboard flower is from Me & My Big Ideas.  It’s all cute and glittery.  You can’t really see that in the picture.  The “Thinking of You” stamp is from a set by Hero Arts.  The first time I stamped the sentiment I put it in the wrong place.  So I made a cute little block with a some scrap cardstock and a border punch and just adhered it over my boo-boo.  I think it looks better anyway, more interesting.  Thanks for looking and if you want to see more pictures you can check them out in my gallery on Two Peas.

Oh!  I almost forgot.  I got my prize package from Paper Crafts in the mail the other day.  Oh my!  You should see all the stuff packed in that box.  They are soooo generous.  It is amazing.  I’ll have to make a little video (or 2 or 3) to share it all with you.

A New Video Tuesday

As promised, here is the new video I told you about yesterday.
