I’ve been busy

February.12.2010

Did you think I got buried in snow during the “Blizzard of 2010?”

I wish I would have got some pictures.

It’s the first time I remember the snow being up to my waist!

But I didn’t venture outside all that much.

I spent most of the time in my scrapbook room.  Yay!

Let’s start with this set.

I have a huge pack of DCWV Rock-N-Roll themed paper that I have no idea why I purchased.

Probably on clearance.

Anyway, I made all three of these cards out of a single sheet of paper.

Added some stamps with white ink, a little bling and some white gel pen stitching and voila!

I have no idea what I’ll do with these but I did use up some paper.

Here’s another one I made.

You can’t really see it in the picture, but I used Unity’s Distressed Music background stamp on the kraft paper.

It looks so cool.

Lastly, I have a man card to share!

I hate making cards for men.

I think it’s because I like to add all kinds of frilly, girlie things to my cards.

It’s too hard to keep it clean and simple.  LOL!

I <3 Papertrey

February.5.2010

Have you been following along with the Papertrey Ink birthday celebrations?

They have been giving away some awesome prizes.

So generous!

For the contest today you had to make a card using the emboss resist technique.

This is the first time I’ve tried it.

I don’t think it turned out too bad.

I really wanted a blue ink that would cover the brown that I stamped the Distressed Music stamp (by Unity Stamp Co.) with.

I used a distress ink by Tim Holtz, but it didn’t cover it to my liking.

I didn’t have time to try something else, so that just has to do.

I actually started my sewing machine up tonight.

Kind of disappointed that you can hardly see it on the card.

I Love Earth Love

January.21.2010

I was talking to my crafty internet friend, Katy early today.

I gave her an assignment.  I told her she either had to make a baby card using her Basic Grey chipboard stickers or she could make a Valentine.

Haha.

I’m the boss.

She told me I had to make a birthday card and I had to use my Cosmo Cricket Earth Love paper pack.  I wanted it soooo bad, then I got it for Christmas and hadn’t opened it before tonight.

When I was blog surfing today I saw a sketch challenge over on the Limelight blog.  They were also trying to get everyone to incorporate canvas into their projects.

So here’s what I made:

I cut that piece of Ranger sticky-back canvas out with my handy Cuttlebug and the Label 4 Nesties.  Then I inked it up with some Tim Holtz Antique Linen Distress ink.

After that I stamped the border with a Waltzingmouse stamp using some new Papertrey Ink ink that I just got today.  I love it!  Then I stamped the flower image from Unity Stamp Co. with some brown Memento ink.  I colored the little leaves in with a Copic marker.  It bled a little bit, but you can’t really tell.

The sentiment is from Through the Trees by Papertrey Ink (I HAD to play with my new toys!)

As I did in the last card I shared, I put a sentiment inside this one too.  I stamped the Unity flower again and then added a sentiment from Mega Mixed Messages by Papertrey Ink.

Just so you know, I love this card!  LOL  Aren’t the colors so calm and soothing?

URA*

January.20.2010

I got a magazine in the mail last night that had some easy valentine’s for kids to make.

One was a robot and it was saying URA*.

I thought that was pretty cute and immediately decided I wanted to make a card with that phrase.

Star stamps are by Unity Stamp Co. and the border is from Gina K.

Don’t laugh at me.

I got some fun flock for Christmas and really wanted to try it, BUT I didn’t have any adhesive to use other than my glue dot roller.

So that’s what I used.  It’s on the bottom stamped star.

It doesn’t look terrible.

Did you ever notice I rarely show you the insides of my cards?

That is because I don’t usually put anything inside until I’m ready to give it to someone.

This time I added a sentiment though.

Well I’m off to wait until my man is done playing video games so I can watch American Idol.

I still love that show!

A Scrapbook Page

November.24.2009

I have had close to zero motivation to make anything lately.  I was starting to think I was burnt out.

My crafty friend Katy shared this blog with me last week called Scrap and Stamp.  It sure looks like they have some great challenges.  I just loved the sketch they have on their right now, so I decided to try it.

I didn’t realize just how many products I used to make this page until I started to write them down!  But I guess that’s how it always is.

DP:  BasicGrey Archaic Collection
Border & Alphabet Stickers:  BasicGrey Archaic Collection
Chipboard Alphabet Stickers:  BasicGrey Archaic Chip Stickers
Arrow Stamp:  Unity July 09 Kit of the Month
Smile Stamp:  Autumn Leaves Everyday Sentiments
Paisley Background Stamp:  Autumn Leaves Block Stamps 2
Worn Grid Stamp:  Unity Stamp Co.
Inks:  Antique Linen and Spiced Marmalade Tim Holtz Distress Inks, Black ColorBox Pigment Ink, Tuxedo Black Memento Ink, VersaMark
Other:  Antique Linen Tim Holtz Distressing Powder

Some of my friends have been wondering what the distressing powder is like.  Well, you apply it just like you would embossing powder.  After you heat set it, you let it cool.  Then you take your finger and rub it, as if you were sanding it.  It ends up with an interesting rough finish.  It’s best if you use a stamp without a lot of detail with it, in my opinion.  Here’s a close up of where I used it on this project:

I have a card to share this week!  I even used paper piecing!  This was my first time doing the whole paper piecing thing.  Really quite fun.  Oh, and I sewed on this card!  Wow, I’m impressing myself. 😉

Hooray for Friday

October.23.2009

I love Friday’s, don’t you?  I can’t wait to sleep in this weekend (even if it’s for a little bit).  Then I have Monday off, so I’m going to try to finish making my Christmas cards.  What is wrong with me this year?  I am never this ambitious.  So, to show you that I’m telling the truth I’ll share this Christmas card with you:

LOL yes I’ve been playing with the sewing machine lately.  Doesn’t look very professional, does it?

There’s a closeup of the beautiful journal block from Unity Stamp Co.  I stamped a sentiment (from Papertrey Inks) in the middle, sponged some Antique Linen Distress Ink around the outside and added a little blue gem.  The pattern paper is from My Minds Eye and the ribbon is from Michael’s.  Hope you like it!
