Isn’t it bromantic?

September.18.2009

Hehe, is there anyone out there that doesn’t love Unity Stamp Co.?  They’ve got the cutest stamps, the best kit club, the most awesome design team and now they’ve got this fabulous contest going on:  the Unity Bachelor.  So this week’s challenge was to make a card, either for Bro or a special guy in your life, inviting them on a date.  PLUS the card had to be in Bro’s fave colors:  black, red and green.  Oh, and of course you have to use Unity stamps…but that’s a given, right?  After watching a cool blog video today (I’ll find the link for you all) I knew exactly what technique I was going to try.  Here’s my date card (and if you were wondering, it’s for my sweet husband):

I loved making that 3d heart.  I can’t wait to try that technique with other shapes.  Check out these close-ups:

I didn’t think I’d get my card done for this week.  I was busy, busy.  Went to Target and they had LOTS of scrapbooking goodies on clearance.  I can’t wait to play with them!  So anyway, some of us friends have been picking a theme each week for HHH (now Friends with Flair).  What we do is choose a type of stamp, or one with a common theme and we all do our card like that.  Next week we are going to do flying things (balloons, birds..hmm…I don’t know what else, oh!  Butterflies!)   Now, you don’t have to do the theme thing if you don’t want to, just use any old Unity stamp.  But it’s kinda fun seeing everyone elses take on the “theme.”  This week we used a Unity stamp for our background, either a background stamp or any Unity stamp to make a background.  I guess I was really -feelin’ the joy!  🙂

When I visited my parents last weekend I took this picture of this dying dill plant.  It was my inspiration for the card.

Sketchy Wednesday

Hi everyone!  Wow, I’ve got a busy day at work today.  So let me keep this short & sweet.  Here is the Get Sketchy sketch for this week:

Thanks for looking!

I have off every other Monday.  This is not one of them.  It stinks only having one day off every other week.  But hey, at least I have a job.

I’m here to share with you another Get Sketchy sketch challenge.  This is sketch #2.  Here is the sketch (the bonus this week was to use punches):

I finally got my Unity stamps to play with.  The circle one is from the Stylin’ Stars set.  Then I embossed the circle with one of  the Stitched Circles embossing folders with my Cuttlebug.  (I had fun playing with all my new toys this weekend!)  I used a scalloped border by Fiskars to punch those strips.  The brad, sticker and papers are from K&Co.

Here are two more cards for you to enjoy:

Flower Card

This one is almost all K&Co.  With the exception of the glossy paper by Ranger, which I used some alcohol ink to color.

A Muse Trees Card

A Muse Trees Card

On this card the background was stamped with a Fancy Pants stamp and then embossed with white, then I used Tim Holtz distress inks to add the purple color.  The tree stamp is by A Muse.  I think I did a pretty decent job coloring with my Martha Stewart watercolor markers.

I hope you enjoyed this cards!

Thinking of You

August.13.2009

I’m so sad that the Thinking Inking class over at Two Peas is almost over.  That class was so inspiring.  I loved that card Jennifer made with the transparent window so much that I made one of my own.

Thinking of You

Thinking of You

I had some old Fiskars embossing plates (you know, the ones you emboss by hand) that I have hardly used (I need a Cuttlebug).  I used the leaves one for this card.  The transparent strip is actually the packaging that was wrapped around a new album I bought.  I just cut it down to size.  I used Lettuce, Stream and Silver alcohol inks.  The chipboard flower is from Me & My Big Ideas.  It’s all cute and glittery.  You can’t really see that in the picture.  The “Thinking of You” stamp is from a set by Hero Arts.  The first time I stamped the sentiment I put it in the wrong place.  So I made a cute little block with a some scrap cardstock and a border punch and just adhered it over my boo-boo.  I think it looks better anyway, more interesting.  Thanks for looking and if you want to see more pictures you can check them out in my gallery on Two Peas.

Oh!  I almost forgot.  I got my prize package from Paper Crafts in the mail the other day.  Oh my!  You should see all the stuff packed in that box.  They are soooo generous.  It is amazing.  I’ll have to make a little video (or 2 or 3) to share it all with you.

Hey all. Today I was going to post some cards I made, but when I went to upload the pics they looked really grainy. So I guess I’ll just wait until another day. I’m having a lot of fun using my Unity background stamps and those Ranger Perfect Pearls. I made 2 Christmas cards already, that is really good for me.

New stuff

June.3.2009

I’ve been spending too much money lately.  First I want to share with you a video I made with some of the new scrapbooking stuff I bought.

Today’s my birthday!  I’m getting more scrapbook stuff and I can’t wait to play with it.  J & I are going to have a little party (if you can call it that) after he gets home from work tonight.  He took me out for lunch yesterday.  We went to Chili’s.  Oh my, I love that place.  Chicken Monterey and Texas Cheese fries:  the best!  Then we went grocery shopping and he bought me the most wonderful looking Double Chocolate Chip Cheesecake.  I can’t wait to cut into that tonight.  It looks delicious.

Want to see some things I’ve been working on lately?  I follow this blog every day.  I love the stuff she makes.  She is so awesome at coordinating colors. It’s all adorable.  So this card is kind of inspired by her work.

Thank you card
